Stiftung Warentest (SW)
The foundation Stiftung Warentest was created by a decision of the German Parliament in December 1964 with the aim of providing independent and objective advice to consumers by means of comparative testing. Ninety-six percent of Germans know Stiftung Warentest. One third of them relies on its test results for major purchasing decisions. Over 78,000 products and services have been put to the test since 1964. Stiftung Warentest also provides information with the aim of optimising households’ use of income and promoting a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle. Its main monthly magazine ‘test’ has existed since 1966 and has a circulation of 550,000 copies.
