Japan Consumer Network (JACONET)
The Japan Consumer Network (formerly NCOS) was created in 2003 with an exclusive focus on activities to promote the consumer interest in standards such as ISO and JIS (Japan Industrial Standards). Since joining Consumers International in 2006 they have broadened their scope of activities to include disseminating information about global consumer issues in the Japanese language. They are also involved in developing and/or strengthening links between domestic and overseas consumer organisations. In 2014, the membership voted to change the organisation’s name to Japan Consumer Network (JACONET) to reflect this broader focus in our work.
JACONET has two main areas of activities: standards work (conducting seminars; promoting consumer representation and participation in standards development) and disseminating information in Japanese about global consumer issues, in particular, consumer contracts and product safety.
