Consumer Protection Bureau (CPB)
The Consumer Protection Bureau (CPB) is a UK-based Community Interest Company established in 2011 to advance consumer rights and strengthen protections against unfair market practices. As the Social Corporate Responsibility arm of Compliance and Risk Consultancy Ltd, [CRC], CPB operates independently of industry funding, ensuring its sole focus remains on protecting consumers.
Founded by Yousouf Jhugroo, former CEO of the Institute for Consumer Protection (ICP), CPB brings over 30 years of expertise in consumer advocacy, legal frameworks, and regulatory enforcement. The organisation works to bridge gaps in consumer protection by challenging unethical business practices, advocating for policy reforms, and offering direct support to affected consumers.
CPB’s core activities include:
- Advocacy & Policy Reform – Engaging with regulators and policymakers to drive legislative changes that enhance consumer protection.
- Consumer Assistance – Supporting individuals facing disputes over faulty goods, misleading contracts, and substandard services.
- Education & Awareness – Providing resources, training, and guidance to help consumers understand their rights effectively.
With a proven track record of holding businesses accountable and influencing policy change, CPB remains a trusted voice in consumer rights. Our work ensures that consumer interests are not just considered but prioritised in legal and commercial decisions.
