Consumer Awareness Organisation (CAO)
Felicia Nwanne Monye is a Professor of Law at the University of Nigeria. Felicia teaches the Law of Consumer Protection and Commercial Law. She is a consumer protection advocate and has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences on the subject. She serves as a consultant to some international organisations on consumer issues and enjoys a good working relationship with many consumer protection agencies in Nigeria.
The Consumer Awareness Organisation (CAO) is based in Enugu, Nigeria and was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2001 to protect the interests of consumers of products and services. The aims of the organisation include consumer education, review of consumer laws and information sharing. CAO engages in media enlightenment campaigns, consumer advice and community outreach programmes. It also publishes the Consumer Journal, a multi-disciplinary journal which addresses diverse issues of consumer concern. Current programmes of the organisation include campaigns on Corporate Social Responsibility and hygienic handling of food items.
