Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour (MCIL)
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour (MCIL) came into existence with enactment of the Ministerial and Departmental Arrangement Act in 2003. The Ministry is the focal point to a wide number of sectors including Fair Trading, Codex Alimentarius, Consumer Protection and Metrology (FTCACPMD).
The FTCACPMD, which is one of the divisions under the MCIL enforces and monitors the general requirements of all the legislation that enhances and promotes the effectiveness of competition and fair trade in markets to benefit consumers, business and the community. The Division provides policy and other advice to the Minister, and advises stakeholders including traders, consumers and the general public on all matters to do with fair trading, consumer protection and weights and measures.
