Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives in Kiribati came into existence with the enactment of Consumer Protection Act 2001. Under the Act, the department is responsible for consumer protection and administration in upholding the rights of consumers, fair trading and statutory warranties. The Minister, head of the department, is responsible for the due administration and implementation of the Act by monitoring compliance to the Act by persons and enterprises providing consumers with goods and services.
