Neytendasamtökin (NS)

Neytendasamtökin (NS) was founded on 23 March 1953 and is one of the oldest consumer organisations in the world. It currently has 13,000 individual members and is the only consumer organisation operating in the country.
Their main areas of work are to promote and protect the interests of consumers, to represent consumers and undertake comparative testing of goods and services. NS speak out for consumers and promote their interests to the relevant authorities and stakeholders in Iceland. They also attend to individual complaints and improve consumer education and information through the publication of a member-only magazine.
NS operates the European Consumer Center (ECC)-Iceland to help consumers resolve cross-border shopping disputes. It publishes a quarterly magazine called Neytendablaðið.
