Global Congress:
Uniting Consumer Advocates for Impact and Innovation

Every four years Consumers International holds its Global Congress – the only international gathering of its kind – dedicated to advancing consumer rights, empowerment and protection globally.   

Congress convenes eminent leaders invested in global consumer rights and empowerment - from the heads of leading consumer advocacy organisations to ministers and senior government representatives to executives at top businesses to visionaries from philanthropic and international institutions. Through dialogue, collaboration and exchange, participants explore the most pressing issues affecting consumers today and the collective action needed to build a more resilient future.   

Congress provides an opportunity to share emerging consumer trends, highlight regional priorities and strengthen international cooperation on consumer policy and advocacy. It also serves as an important forum to connect consumer insight and experience with policymaking, regulation and market practice. 

A global forum for consumer leadership 

The most recent edition of Global Congress took place in Kenya in 2023 and included: 

  • More than 600 participants from across the consumer movement and wider stakeholder community. 
  • Representation from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Pacific, Europe, North America and the Middle East. 
  • Featured 30 interactive sessions taking place over three days in person and online. 
  • Participation from senior government representatives, international organisations and business leaders, including the Deputy President of Kenya   
  • The launch of six multistakeholder calls-to-action. 
  • Coverage across 20+ press outlets.  
  • 98% of participants reporting that they were ‘highly satisfied’ or ‘satisfied’ in the post-event survey. 


Recent editions of Global Congress have taken place in Hong Kong, Brazil and Portugal, reflecting Consumers International’s commitment to convening across regions and showcasing global leadership on consumer issues. 

Global Congress is also linked to Consumers International’s governance processes, serving as the basis for the organisation’s General Assembly, where Members elect our Advisory Council and help shape future priorities.

Looking to 2027


The next Global Congress will take place in late 2027. 

Consumers International works with prospective hosts over an extended period to assess strategic fit, logistical readiness and opportunities for impact. The final location is determined by our Board of Trustees and is only announced once confirmed with the host.
