United Nations Environment Programme

Sustainable consumption

Consumers International holds a Memorandum of Understanding with the UN Environment Programme, collaborating to strengthen consumer empowerment and protection through environmental action. We work together to promote stronger engagement with governments, the private sector, and consumer associations, reinforcing consumer rights to a clean environment and to reliable information for safe and sustainable goods and services.

In 2025, we partnered to deliver World Consumer Rights Day on the topic of A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles, including a Sustainable Lifestyles Summit bringing together more than 120 expert speakers. Consumers International also co-leads the UN One Planet Network's Consumer Information (CI-SCP), convening global actors including civil society, business, and government, to support the provision of quality information on goods and services.
