COMESA Competition and Consumer Commission

The COMESA Competition and Consumer Commission is a regional body which promotes competitive markets and safeguards consumer welfare across COMESA’s 21 Member States. The COMESA Competition Commission fulfils this mandate by preventing and prohibiting anti-competitive business and unfair trade practices, actions that protect consumers and advance the broader goal of deepening regional integration. Consumers International has partnered with the COMESA Competition Commission and other stakeholders on key initiatives and milestones, including the Fair Food Prices campaign in Africa and the Global Consumer Congress 2023, hosted in Kenya, a COMESA Member State. Through these efforts, we have mobilised consumer advocates, policymakers, and industry leaders to drive commitments and concrete actions that strengthen consumer rights within the region and beyond.
