Protecting and empowering consumers in the digital age

Consumers International (CI), working together with over 200 Members in 120 countries, is the only independent and authoritative global voice for consumers. Together we ensure consumers are treated safely, fairly and honestly. We strive to put them at the heart of the practices of global corporations and influence international bodies such as the UN, OECD and G20 to act in their interest.

Digital technology is creating new opportunities and challenges for consumers around the world. The pace of development challenges governments, businesses and consumers themselves to understand how the rights of consumers can best be protected and promoted in the future.

This is an exciting time to be part of Consumers International. Together with our Members we are building a strong international voice and digital issues will be a major focus for the organisation in 2017 with exciting new opportunities for us to be heard on the global stage and influence the agenda of the G20 and other international organisations.

We are looking for a new advocacy and policy officer who has a sound understanding of the challenges facing consumers in the digital age (for example terms and conditions, competition, access and choice, Internet of Things, mobile finance etc). They must be able to combine the latest thinking with the experience and understanding of our Members to create evidence based robust positions and briefings that will inform communications with high level policy makers and consumers.

The responsibilities will include research, policy development, liaison with CI members and external stakeholders as well as the development of communication materials including briefings and presentations.
