Consumers International is a founding signatory of the
Green Economy Coalition (GEC),
a group of international businesses, trade unions, environmental
groups and civil society organisations calling on the world's
leading economies to prioritise sustainabale development and tackle
climate change.
The GEC has submitted a joint set of recommendations to the Rio+20 consultation
process.
The GEC 'Zero Draft' Submission has adopted CI's
call for the full implementation of section G of the UN guidelines
for consumer protection, along with broader demands that
incorporate labour, environmental and governance issues.

Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (
Rio+20).
Coalition letter to the G20 finance ministers -
November 2009. The Green Economy Coalition urges world leaders to
reduce subsidies for fossil fuel energy production and redirect
funds into helping vunerable consumers make the tranisation to a
low carbon economy.
Coalition letter signed to the third G20 Summit -
September 2009. The letter asks G20 leaders to follow through on
their pledges to accelerate the transition to a green economy and
secure a visionary global deal on climate change.
