About the issue

Food safety and nutrition has always been a key issue for consumer organisations around the world.

Consumers International and our members are currently working on food issues including food marketing to children, food safety standards, bio safety, street food, and reducing salt in food.

CI is well placed to represent consumers with official status at the World Health Organisation and Codex Aliamentarius  (the international food standards body) and contact on the ground through our national member organisations.

Consumers International recently celebrated the adoption of new international guidelines on the marketing of food to children - following several years of campaigning on the issue.
