Applications for 2012 now open!
Consumers International has partnered with the Swedish
Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) to enable CI members in
developing countries to raise awareness about sustainable
consumption, with an emphasis on environmental issues.
The Green Action Fund is inspired by
SSNC's annual Shop and Act Green Week (Miljövänliga veckan) and
has been made possible with support from the Swedish International
Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
CI members are invited to apply for small grants of up to
USD3,000 to run short-term awareness campaigns focusing on a
particular environmental theme. In line with SSNC's Shop and Act
Green Week, members are encouraged to promote an alternative choice
to consumers wherever possible.

member organisations in developing countries. For country

Shop and Act Green Week
SSNC's Shop and Act Green Week takes place every year in the
first week of October, and seeks to raise awareness around a
particular environmental theme. As well as informing and educating,
the campaign always promotes a particular alternative choice to
consumers.
The theme for 2012 is the promotion of sustainable fish and
shellfish. The environmental impact of unsustainable fishing
practices resonates with consumers around the world, and applicants
to the Green Action Fund are encouraged to follow this theme.
Although not mandatory, the ability to link with other activities
in other countries can provide real added value to national
campaigns.
A selection of successful projects will be promoted on CI's
website to facilitate the co-ordination of activities between CI
members in different countries.
