ANNE
FRANSEN FUND
From food-purchasing cooperatives in Ecuador, to personal
finance education in Tanzania, the Anne Fransen Fund has a mission
to advance the position of consumers in developing and transitional
economies, through capacity building and campaigning projects.
AZERBAIJAN PROJECT
This EC-funded project aims to empower municipalities to better
serve their constituents in relation to social and environmental
rights.
CONSUMER PROTECTION IN
BANGLADESH
CI is working with UNIDO in Bangladesh to raise public awareness
of consumer rights, improve product safety, and develop the
capacity of national consumer organisation, CAB.
CITIZENSHIP, COLLABORATIVE TECHNOLOGIES AND
REGULATION
CI members will investigate how the use of ICT tools (web 2.0,
social networks or mobile phones) can improve the participation of
citizens in regulatory processes. ASPEC (Peru) and CDC (El
Salvador) will focus on water.
GREEN ACTION FUND
Consumers International has partnered with the Swedish Society
for Nature Conservation (SSNC) to enable CI members in developing
countries to raise awareness about sustainable consumption, with an
emphasis on environmental issues.
MEDIA CAPACITY
BUILDING
Funded by the Consumers Reports Colston Warne Programme, the
media capacity building project worked with member organisations in
developing economies to help build understanding, expertise and
experience in using the media to raise awareness about consumer
rights issues.
RHODA KARPATKIN ADVOCATE
PROGRAMME
The Rhoda Karpatkin (RK) Advocate Programme is a joint
initiative between Consumers International (CI) and
Consumers Reports (CR) to provide training and experience to
campaigning advocates from CI member organisations in
developing countries.
SOUTHERN AFRICA PROJECT
CI is working with the Open Society Institute in Southern Africa
(OSISA) to build basic consumer protection, legal frameworks and
organisational capacity in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.
EAST AFRICA PROJECT
Project to promote financial capability in East Africa to create
an enabling environment towards empowering consumers to make
informed decisions about their money and the financial products
they buy.
CONSUMER PROTECTION IN THE CARIBBEAN
Strengthening consumer protection policies in the Caribbean by
reinforcing the capacity of non-government consumer organisations
and government agencies, and by increasing consumer awareness about
their rights, in particular within the banking and credit
sector.
