President of Consumers International
Bart Combée became President at Consumers International's General Assembly in Brasilia on 21 November 2015 and is serving a four-year term. The President is a non-executive position and acts as chair of the General Assembly, the Council and the Board.
He is also the Chief Executive of Consumentenbond, the Consumers Association in the Netherlands. Consumentenbond was founded in 1953 and has currently 500,000 members, approximately 8% of all Dutch households.
In his professional career Bart has held executive positions in both profit and non-profit organisations. Amongst others he was commercial director at AVR, the largest waste collection firm in the Netherlands at that time. Most recently he was director West Netherlands at Viataal, a non-profit organisation that offers education and health care for disabled people. He was also a member of the City Council of Rotterdam from 1994-1998. In all these activities, entrepreneurship toward achieving civic goals was his main aim.
Bart graduated as an economist at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
