Elena currently works for Consumers International (CI) part-time as the lead international expert on a World Bank funded project in the Russian Federation working with CI Member KONFOP to advocate for better financial services.
Born and raised in Uzbekistan, Elena has lived, studied and worked in Uzbekistan, USA, UK, Russia, Kazakhstan and Bosnia & Herzegovina. She has worked on projects in a number of countries in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union on behalf of CI.
Her experience in international development ranges from trade, customs, economic and electoral reforms, to environmental sustainability and in the greatest extent to consumer policy. Her experience in consumer policy includes consumer organisations’ capacity building, consumer protection legislation, consumer education and awareness, consumer research including mystery shopping, food labelling, GMOs, standards, agricultural policy, EU single market, sustainable consumption, dispute resolution, consumer advice, and more recently financial services.
Elena works in English and Russian and can communicate at a basic level in German, Turkish, Serbo-Croatian and Italian.
Elena is based in London.
