Consumers International’s work promotes consumers' access to nutritious and safe food.
With obesity and diet-related disease a major problem around the world, CI is calling on governments to support our recommendations for a new Global Convention to Protect and Promote Healthy Diets.
Our recommendations include restrictions on the marketing of junk food to children, better nutritional information for consumers and reductions in the levels of fat, sugar and salt in food.
CI is also calling for reductions in the use of anti-biotics in farming and supporting the consumer voice in the development of international food safety standards.
CI is well placed to represent consumers with official status at the World Health Organisation and Codex Alimentarius (the international food standards body) and contact on the ground through our national Member organisations.
