The second largest consumer organisation in France, it is a grassroot organisation with 400 local branches. Through its lobbying and research activities at the national level, CLCV protects consumers and gives advice on areas relating to everyday life such as nutrition, housing and environment. It also takes legal action to enforce consumer rights when it feels appropriate. In the wake of the successful sustainable consumption comparison site set up jointly with WWF-France for cars, electric bulbs, dish-washers, computer screens, fridges and freezers which compares their energy performance and environmental impact, CLCV has recently launched a website which include diet and nutritional advice, information about labels and give red cards to bad food products.
